Our Process
Custom Development provides web solutions and support to the Cornell community. As part of Cornell, we share the same goals, visions and priorities as you. We offer solutions with highly competitive budgets while meeting Cornell’s standards for branding and accessibility.
Intake
Your first step in working with us is to request a free intake meeting. We will discuss your business objectives, budget and timeline to see how we can help and provide an estimate.
Project Management
Your project manager will be your main point of contact. They will organize your timeline, budget, and scope. Consider the PM the glue that holds everything together until completion.
Discovery
Discovery comes at the beginning of your project to define how it will be built. In discovery we gather requirements, decide on hosting and may do user research.
Content Services
Content strategy pinpoints where your mission and your users’ values coincide. Combined with user research, we’ll help you to refine and redefine your online presence with a content strategy that’s in-scope and on-budget.
User Experience
A full discovery may include User Experience (UX) consulting and research. We have a modern, user first approach and offer the full spectrum of research methodologies. These services can be performed on existing sites or iteratively throughout design and development.
Design and Implementation
After discovery, your project will move to design and development. Our team creates designs that not only look good but integrate UX and accessibility best practices. You can also rest assured that your site will be Cornell brand compliant. For a look at our work please view our portfolio. We also provide our Cornell Branded Theme 2021 featuring pre developed styles for your use.

Quality Assurance
Once your project has been implemented our team will review your site to ensure quality before launch.
Web Accessibility
We also review your website for WCAG 2.1 Level AA web accessibility standards in compliance with Cornell policy. This ensures your website works for people using assistive technologies.
Support and Maintenance
After your project is finished we can provide ongoing support and maintenance including routine patches, enhancements, fixes and training.
